Scope rings for BSA Airsporter Mark 2?

I have a BSA Airsporter Mark 2 with the 2 separate scope ring grooves. The gap is pretty wide, are there any scope rings that will fit these. The open site folds down and is to me not the easiest to use effectively.

I think the wide dovetails were designed to accept mounts by Parker Hale.

    Mk 2 Airsporter Scope Mounts

    Good Morning.

A few years back I was having the same problem. I sourced some mounts through Michael Tawn.
They were Sportsmatch TO48. They also fit the Mk1 and Mk2 Meteor they did the job perfectly.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks good lead, those are 15mm and they make 17mm as well. Need to make a precise measurement that seems to be very close to what I was crudely measuring.

I think you hit it, this is the only ring out there I can find that fits, only in England but found on the bay, they will ship to USA.

You're spot on flint, I bought this set of Japanese 5/8" mounts from the Melbourne vintage airgun fayre and they fitted my mk2 Meteor superbly, The mk1/2 Meteors had exactly the same types of short scope railes that the mk2 Airsporter had (Apart from the transitional mk2/mk3's that had one pair of narrower dovetails cut in)

Curious if they were stated as 5/8th inch or in mm?

It actually states the imperial size (5/8") on the edge of the box, No mention of metric at all

Just found a pic and uploaded it to imgur

Bad news the Sportsmatch rings above will fit the Meteor but not the Airsporter per the English gun shop that sells them on the bay. They bottom out. Don’t know if there is enough room to grind them higher?

Hard to believe but just got some Parker Hale 1 inch scope rings for 5/8 rail on the bay from Australia. Used but look in good shape. Keeping my fingers crossed, till they arrive. Probably my best shot at getting something that will work.

    Hi Flint

I won these on flreabay, These came from Australia and are windage adjustable as well as size adjustable, I fitted them to a BSA Lightning with the 14mm maxigrip mount, They did the job fine when I was having trouble finding mounts to fit!!

Nothing is easy and not sure it will align properly cause I don’t have a 1 inch tube scope that fits this spacing yet. But I got some old Parker Hale 5/8 rings. The groves in the receiver are so far down they bottomed out. Ground the bottoms enough to clear but I bet alignment of scope will be a challenge.
