That’s a cracking job you’ve done there !
As far as I know from when I got rid of my old garage and built a new workshop is that if it’s made of brick or a material that is considered permanent ( concrete / blocks etc ) then you might need planning permission. None of what you’ve done is permanent as it essentially timber / plastic and could easily be removed.
Here you go, plenty on the net

The only thing you’ve done wrong is make an awful lot of us envious

Looks Brilliant
You certainly are a good builder Top job mate ,how much is the membership
Thanks for all the comments
I got the floor in today and bolted the shed to the ground.
I also made the end panel out of the left over scrap Upvc.
The lights got turned on for the first time toady as well
The walls will be made tomorrow and then the shooting desks can be made and go in.

That's very impressive & looks well built.
Also rather more substantial than I imagined, well done indeed.
Raining today, so didn't get to finish the shed insulation panels, so made the pellet catchers instead.
I welded them up from some scrap 3mm plate steel I had.
they hold 17cm targets that are to be held in place by the whizzer hanger.
They will bolt onto an angled bracket so the rear plate is angled, but the face is vertical.
I have gone for a deep tray in the bottom with a full length 6mm slot so the pellets can fall out the bottom into a collection trough.
This means the catchers will never fill up, they won't need to be removed and the dead pellets can't bounce up and damage the target from behind!!
The front faces are 4mm thick and are angled so any stray pellet will be deflected sideways.

Fitting out the inside has taken a bit longer than expected because of the weather, it's been raining here and all the work really needs to be done out side as the parts are large.
All the lining panels have been cut out from 6mm MDF, foam cut into strips and glued onto the back, and the panels were painted.
The panels have been screwed into place now, window blind fitted and draft curtain.
I've also added plastic angle around all the insulation board edges and fitted some electrics and lighting.
Now that's all done and fitted, I made this shooting desk thing that holds the whizzers above and somewhere to rest guns and stuff. One side is 10" higher as the floor on one side will be 10" higher to cater for my disabled daughter who shoots from a spring while sitting on a stool. If the floor is not lifted, she'd be shooting the wall!

Many more pics to come of the finished inside over the weekend when I get time.
Just a quick update on some mostly finished bits so you can get an idea of how the shed is shaping up.
The raised floor and whizzers are yet to be added, but that's just about the only things left to do now.

Thats looking fantastic now mate, I struggled to visualise what you were saying about the heigh differences for your lass
but now its in place I get it.
Top work, I hope you both have many hours of fun in there!
When with the inaugural shoot be?
I shot 20 shots in there last week to test my pistol, but it was nowhere near finished and was a bit cobbled together.
The raised floor will be going in over this weekend.
I think the whole deal will be finished during next week depending on my work load.
So hopefully we can have the first proper full shoot in it by Sunday next (away working Saturday!)
I regret that I have not the room for such a gem!
It may be impertinent but I am sure that many of us would love to know the total cost of materials, please.
It occurs to me that perhaps a few people would like you to build one for them; a new career, perhaps?
Congratulations on a magnificent job and I wish you and your daughter many hours of safe fun with it.
I have no issue with you asking how much did it cost me, I guess some people have already wondered that?
Wherever I live, I always end up getting to know where I can buy all sorts of bits from that I can make 'stuff' from, so because of that, I have been able to save some money here and there on this range. I saved some money on the ducting because I did a deal with the boss for cash. The carpet all came out the local carpet shops bin for free! The metal for the pellet catchers and hand rail (not seen yet) was free from a mate. The insulation (and other small parts) I had 'in stock' in my storage shed, the paint was left over from our house decoration etc etc. I also did all the work myself including the welding.
By the time I had the main lumps in place (post 45) it had cost me about £800. But that was before all the bits to finish it off, like MDF, ply wood, insulation, fixtures and fittings. I stopped counting after £800 and just closed my eyes and bought as cheap as I could, if not for free !!
I'm guessing the number is about £1400-1500. But when you consider a fitted out shed is going to cost 'X' anyway, wether it's for a reading room, gym, hobby room etc, I don't think my cost is too bad. I have two gardens that back onto mine, and both have shed gyms in them, I can hear them crashing and bashing the weights! I bet their sheds with equipment in cost way more than mine. But then once my steyr and my daughters MPR is in there and the shed is doing what it was made for, I expect ours cost more
Just to put the cost of this range into context, you can buy two BSA R10's, or one Steyr pistol, but still £300 short of an FX Crown (that many people have).

very impressive job.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
