I was wondering how long it would take you to show us some more of your HW gun porn Mr Jones. It has come up nicely though I must admit. It also shoots rather well if I remember rightly. John has also provided us with a nice hareem of 35's for those of us of this persuasion.
My own 35 Export isnt bad to shoot or look at either for that matter. Do I really need a new one?
Oh, alright then!

If its '35 gun porn' you want hows about this? A 'ball bag' deluxe bought earlier this year from fellow club member Phil. This re-blued by Colin Malloy and tuned by Dave Mercer this classic was for sale at our Adlington Airgun Fair but no-one took bought it because it had the manufacturers brown varnish finish. I bought it for £120 and stripped and re-finished to stock. This was what was under the brown gunk varnish.

The stock on that 35 is amazing!
I just bought a new HW35e in .22 and am very happy with it so far.
I was hoping for a lighter coloured stock on mine with a good grain and I was at first glance a bit disappointed with the stock which was very dark with a really heavy coat of oil. This meant that the wood figure was barely even noticeable to begin with. I have since given it a light rub down to remove a bit of the oil and the grain is starting to shine through now. Just debating whether to work on it a bit more or leave it well alone before I ruin it!
Definitely appreciate the sturdiness and engineering of this old classic!
This
is the 'B B' deluxe stock before I gave it some TLC just using varnish stripper (not Nitro Moors ) and using over the counter CCL sealer and oil. Several hours removing a few dents and rubbing down to glass smooth produced the finished article. Im far from a wood working expert but I find the end result acceptable.

Very acceptable - must have been satisfying getting such a great result!
Mine has quite a few small knots on the wood which gives the grain a nice pattern and adds a bit of character, but do wonder if these should be sanded back a bit a bit more to get the best out of it. Will certainly think about doing it, perhaps a bit down the line when it is scuffed and in need of a refinish.
Thanks,
Ed
