The T prefix BSA's were made between 1936 and 1939. So your friends would be 1936

The 'T' is probably a number or an 'L'. The 'T's were only in .22 cal (and approx 45in) and 39in long is a Light pattern.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.

Forgot that the T prefix were all .22

The L prefix rifles were made between 1919 and 1936

So if your friends is a low serial number than it would place it around 1919.

Unless it is actually a T prefix trigger block attached to a .177 cylinder and barrel. In that case its a parts rifle more commonly known as a 'Bitsa'.

The picture of the serial number could do with being retaken. Flash makes it a bit hard to read. So cant tell for sure what it is. Looks like a T or a L but the letter (if it is a letter) seems to be smaller than the numbers (numbers look odd to). Again kind of hard to tell with the flash glare on the photo.

Well one thing for sure is that, as far as I know, the L and T Prefix rifles did not have a side button lever(?)

Looks like a Improved mod D or a early Standard (S prefix). Looks way too long to be a L prefix.

So from what I can see. Could be a Bitsa...

Serial number looks fairly well worn away so without inspecting it in person, its kind of hard to tell.

Though I am sure there are people on here with more knowledge and better eyes that can solve this mystery!
