Hi
Looking at some breech seals for my Supersport there are the following to chose from
Blue aussie one from Customseals
Soft white one off with iyr repacement
Clear one from knibbs
Original hard black one
Which one would anyone advise they're all around the same price?
The lock up is fairly stiff if that is of any issue
I use a HW80 breach seal works much better that the bsa standard ones.
Don't forget the weihrauch items, the break barrel or underlever.
I bought the clear one, and the rifle has shot brilliantly ever since. The others may be fine, and the colours may not mean anything, but the clear one works for me.
Air Arms Pro-Sport .22 cal walnut stock (2019), BSA Supersport .177 cal (1999), British Diana Model 27 .177 (1950s), Umarex 850 M2 .22, Webley MkVI Service Revolver .177 pellet (2019), Sig Sauer XFive .177 pellet, Colt 1911 pellet.
I find the clear ones, which I believe are original BSA and not the black ones (unless BSA/Gamo are now using black ones) as all the old ones I've removed from my Mercury's have all been clear (if a little yellowed from age) seem to be more squishy than the other ones, I don't think I'd want to use a blue one as if you want an old Mercury S or something to look original then having a blue seal would look a bit odd to me, however good they work.

Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in
was in plum centre and bought some rubber seals for well plumbing. some of the rubber was the same size as the seal on my superstar. a bit of vaseline on and a wipe down and lo and behold seals that were not for air rifle and cheep.
the only thing i can find wrong is the nut on the steering wheel.
I just fitted a Knibbs one, the tissue test shows no leaks, so what more could you want.
HW80 seals from Knibbs are what I've started to replace my supersport and scorpion seals with. They're red and although obviously not original if you want to keep everything original they look pretty cool in the scorpions with them being all black. They need sizing but give a better alignment with the breech and transfer port face preventing any high or low deviation after a fair bit of use.
Ok totally different model but I purchased one of the weihrauch breech seals for my super Meteor and since fitting when you close the barrel after cocking it doesn't close fully/properly you can see that its slightly raised and it's the breech seal that's causing it, just saying.
yup, hw seals
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
Had to sand about 0.4mm off a hw80 seal to less than 4mm to get my BSA supersport to get the barrel to close correctly. On measuring the depth it was 3.6mm so about 0.3mm is protruding. I had another SS that I fitted a blue assie hw80 seal and it fit correctly with no sizing so I guess its a tolerancing issue?
The Knibbs version seems to me to be a new version of the seal usually found on Birmingham made Supersports.
They seem to be to be a bit taller and seal better than the BSA ones I got some years back, and are easier to fit than HW and aftermarket seals.
Plus they have the "air groove" so if it matters to you it looks original
Too many airguns!
