I'm thinking of having a .25 barrel made for my MK2 FX Impact. There are a few options by LW, unchoked, choked and poly. I imagine I am going to use JSBs (assuming they work). My initial thought was just get a choked barrel, but then I thought I might as well tap into the huge store of knowledge here before buying. So, any recommendations and guidance would be welcome please.

One shot, one kill. Not luck, just skill.
FAC - polygon. Anything else - choked

Having done it, the question to you is why? what are you expecting to gain with all due respect?
Saving money. FX barrels are seriously over price....and I dont need a slug liner. Oh, and I think you can get better mods.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in
I have to admit that choke/no choke confuses me. I've always leant towards choked barrels, as I was led to believe that they are more accurate. I also read once that choking a barrel covers up poor manufacturing, as it effectively means only the last bit of the barrel matters.

I s'pose it depends on whether you want to keep the shroud?
a 12mm o/d blank is going to be wayyyy lighter than a 16mm polygon.
only really got experience of new LWs in .22 (FAC) tried two barrels made from unchoked blanks and both were as fussy as can be.
With limited pellet choices choked..you can polish a few microns off the choke to suit but only if you have one to start with.
i cut a 24" barrel blank in two and the un choked one is better than the choked one
they both prefer different pellets as well
choked is just a safer option. the most accurate barrel i have is unchoked, but some unchoked can be crap
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.
