How times change. Imagine suggesting setting up a works air rifle club now. A quick visit to HR would follow I suspect
Closeups from a 1906 postcard showing a bell target comp.
This used to belong to edbear2 and found it's way onto the 'bay and is now framed on one of my shelves.
It's been shared before but only quite a low res image, it's absolutely tiny, just over 3''x 5'' so I did a high res scan and thought it might be of interest.
They make quite a stylish little group, looks like the Post office team up against another club.

Very cool.
Love the straw boaters and bowler hats.

Wonder how many survived WW1?
Fantastic pictures and a great link to that AGW article, thanks Geezer
I just downloaded the magazine from the AGW digital archive and Ill read it later,
I just can't seem to get enough bell target history it's so fascinating because it was never really a thing up here and it's still relatively unknown/ ignored despite the skill and challenge involved in participation.
[EDIT]
A fellow wearing a big white hat in the middle of the crowd looks like Donald Sutherland in the top picture
Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.
Those were the days when every workplace had a sports club with a target-shooting section. Has anyone in identified the site of that Post Office club and what it looks like now?
Fascinating stuff. Thank you, gentlemen.
Not sure if these are active links but;
