Hi collectors corner,
What would the following be worth in
Average shooting condition both having a strip and relube
Webley Hawk in .22 mark 2
Relum Slavia Model 618 .. small size in .177
Thank you
Thanks average plonker
Anyone for the webley thankyou
Is £60 about right
Depends on condition really and a seller may well want photos. Is the MK2 the 'removeable barrel' one? No, I think that was just the MK1.
But as a guide I think you could be right for 'average/used condition' i.e a few scratches to stock but no splits and worn blueing in places commensurate with age. If considered better than that then it could be £75.
But I may be ott ... but I have know Hawks go for about that at auction where you need to add buyer's commission.
Cheers, Phil
MK1 Hawks had a cam lock holding the interchangeable barrels, MK2 Hawks had threaded interchangeable barrels, Phil.
As most folks only ordered the Hawk with just one barrel, Webley dropped the interchangeable barrels when they introduced the Hawk MK3.
All the best Mick
£60 sounds about right for a used example with visible wear.
However, one thing to watch out for: Hawks were notorious for wear around the cross pin that holds the mainspring in place to the extent the holes through which the pin is fitted can look oval with such wear. This has been known to result in unsafe sear release (happened on a rifle I once owned) and there is no easy fix.
Kind regards,
John
Currently looking for Baikal Makarov pistols with the following prefixes to the serial number: 98, T01, T09, T21, T22
Prefer boxed or cased but will consider loose examples too.
Thank you for the memory prompt Mick. Looking at my notes I found this from 2010 for a MK2 .22:
' Originally 300fps. Leaking air at cylinder to breech block junction. Unscrewed and loctited back. Spot welds at front of trigger housing cracked .. welded back by local garage (£5). Breech seal made. Now c. 530 fps with Superdomes. Cosmetically very good. '
Cheers, Phil
The barrel screwed into the breech to hold it, then you tightened the grub screw to lock it from rotating lose.
I still have both the Webley Hawk MK2 key rings with their Allen keys for locking the barrels and adjusting the trigger from when I got my Hawk for Christmas in 1974.
All the best Mick
