    replacement piston for the S&W 77a

    as the old parachute seals get hard they stop weorking and whilst you can get them sent from the US they're pricey so i did an o ring piston head for it

    first i remove the oldhead which is pressed on and thread it 1/4" unc and screw on a chunk of ally -i can do brass or delrin


    then the head is machined to size and given a quick polish

    I get a lot of satisfaction seeing classics being returned to working condition, thanks for sharing these skills.

    The original seal was probably 50 years old, had it held up well?

    it was on it's last legs and whilst it still was working i don't think it would last much longer
