Hi.
I have been 3d printing paper cartridge formers for pistol calibres. May I ask how many shooters on here use paper cartridges or thought about trying them.
Thanks
Jim

Hello. May I also have some info on a 44 cartridge mold.
Never tried it so a pointer towards info on construction and materials would be appreciated.
Cheers
Hi.
Info sent. hope it helps.

Kit arrived next day and made some up to try at the range on Thursday.
Really quick and easy to make. 👍
Slightly oblique query:
I'm considering getting a BP muzzle-loading pistol, quite few club mates use them at our range.
I've seen paper cartridge kits for BP pistols on Youtube, and they look useful. Can these cartridges be used in competitions in the UK?
As far as I know yes. I know flasks are not allowed on NRA competition so every thing has to go into phials. I checked the Bisley muzzle loading rules and there is no mention of them at all.
If you do want anything let me know I make quite a few different calibres for an assortment of BPP.

Keep a load of paper cartridge guns, rifles mainly.
For the revolvers though i tend to use vials and just to it the old fashioned way.
Rifles, a different matter.
As far as paper, tried them all it feels like and have come to rest using regular baking paper. Yes, the sort used in the kitchen. This basically burns and leaves no residue.
Use regular paper glue to form the cartridges on a mandrel.
Have made a number for revolvers too, and to be of use these need to be rather conical in shape (this goes for several of the rifles too but.. yeah). Rifles get away with way less conical shape of the mandrel though.
For some of the rifles we´ve ditched paper all together and use jumbo straws. No, that´s not a misprint. For the French 45cal Chassepot for instance jumbo straws works golden and cuts time down making them it´s nothing short of insane.
An important note on paper cartridge rifles.
Since we´ve started using so called bore-rider pills the difference in accuracy to be had is staggering, to say the least. As the bore-rider hands these cartridges a point of reference.. BIG difference.
The formers that I make have a 6 degree inclusive angle and drop in to where the ball has to be forced into the chamber.
I use raw hemp cigarette papers and pritt stick glue as part of manufacture.
Phials work well but static can be a problem. Watch carefully that all the powder is used and nothing remains inside the phial or you are going to have issue on the line.
