webley premier mk2 - what barrel (s) fit?

ok so I recently came by a partially complete mk2 premier (yep the alloy downgrade thing) which is missing a barrel , latch and grips
now I have a premier barrel with linkage which i think is from the earlier steel bodied prems because the barrel mount is to wide to fit into the front 'plug' recess that screws into the front of the frame.
So either mk2 barrels are model specific or the plug on this one is deformed in some way....thoughts ?

According to the Bruce book (pages 137-139), Mk 2 Premiers used different barrels, from 1975.

yep that does seem to be the case so it gives an idea of the age of the frame

Early ones had the Premier barrel, later had moulded aluminium shroud.

this frame (and some bits) didn't come with a barrel so when rummaging through my small stash of parts I saw a mk1 prem barrel and discovered it wasn't a fit...ah well
back on the shelf till something suitable turns up

Looks similar to a Hurricane barrel, with the shroud on the end? Just a thought.

I have had a Tempest barrel lug that would not fit into the slot in the end plug. I tried it in 2 guns before lightly filing and stoning the sides of the lug.

Id take your eng plug out and try the lug in both the end plug and the slot in the cylinder to see where or what is tight.

after the helpful advice above it looks very much like a tempest barrel will fit!!
the lug on the barrel is a couple of thou too wide to fit but a light stone should sort that.
Im sure I can scavenge a linkage and all thats likely to be tricky is the latch screw as that's much longer than the older guns it seems.

happy days....I feel a franken pistol resurrection coming together here
