Basically the (flat) edges that rest against each other until you pull the trigger - at that point they slide and under the tension of a spring will release, firing the gun.

Daft question time now my Gamo compact has had the trigger springs modded and the sears polished.
Now for the daft question what are the trigger sears and what do the sears do.
