th hole is theere so the sear block can be manually cocked if it doesn't auto cock Louis
I bought this Crosman 130 recently.
It was fun to reseal.
Does someone know what the hole is for at the rear?

Cheers Ped!
You find some really interesting stuff - I love the stand for it 👍🏻
All of the above.
I have the Canadian made version of this extremely accurate and in my opinion, underrated pistol. It takes around four operations of the charging lever for mine to consistently produce similar groups to my Feinwekbau Match air pistol.
I particularly liked this statement printed on the inside of the box.

The hole is for the hammer not to draw a vacuum.
how would it vacume as the sear block is forced rearwards under air pressure in the valve when the trigger is pulled
there is also a rubber buffer washer betwen the rear cap and the cocking block spring seat
What a beautiful example Brian.
It looks very clean.
I don't think I will need the hole at the rear, as the spring consistently moves the sear block forward again right after the shot. But I guess it's a nice little feature if something goes wrong (broken spring?).
On my first variant 130, there is a little handle on the l/h side to move the sear block forward after the shot.
This can easily be automated by inserting a suitable spring behind the sear block, which I did, but I then missed handling the little lever. It's all part of the fun.
Now I look at the photo, I see I mounted the rear sight the wrong way around. Woops.
This Benjamin Mod 177 is the earliest pumper in my collection which pre-dated the introduction of cocking levers requiring a hard surface to push the barrel against when pumping. Multiple lever operations are fiddly enough prior to each shot, but this method must have been a real pain for early owners.

Let's put this one to bed.
From the owner's manual :-

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mick.
That's exactly what Ped wrote.
And also what Brian showed in the box: "READ THE MANUAL". I will look up the manual next time lol.
I'm sure I read in one Crosman manual to use a cocktail stick --- but no big deal.
For anyone wanting Crosman manuals or parts diagrams this is quite useful :-
