Sussex Interclub HFT 2023 - Round 4 results
Hi All.
60 entries at MVAC today; just below our (early season) SIHFT average, but not bad considering this is our journey to the far West.
And you had an opportunity to shoot a terrific course set by our Meon friends at Hen Wood, led by Adam who, sadly, was feeling too unwell to join us after overseeing initial proceedings. Hope you’re feeling better, Adam, and soon.
Decent weather too. Sunny and warm, but with increasing humidity during the morning. The breeze, which could be barely noticed in some parts of the wood, was very much present in the middle part of the course, near the wood’s edge and where almost every peg/target placement meant shooting in to the breeze at different angles.
Great to see yet another new junior join us. Now age 13, but SIHFT rules place Seb Wright in the Primary Class as he was still age 12 at the start of the SIHFT 2023 season. And he shot very well, winning a Silver Badge. Well done, Seb.
Top bombing today was shared by Buxted and Mile Oak, with both Owen and Cargs coming in with 58s apiece. Great shooting, guys. There may have been other PBs among you, but for me the best I was aware of was from my shooting partner – Paul Charman. With a 54, Paul improved his previous best by 3 points. And this while lobbing bigger lumps of lead than all the rest of us. Nice one Paul.

As a reminder, SIHFT Round 5 is in 2 weeks, on Sunday 9th July at Horsham.
Slight change of admin duties, for at least the round at Horsham Hawks, while I pass over the lead roles to Alicia, Charles and Roger Dibbens who kindly volunteered. “Why?” You ask. Simples really as on Wednesday the 5th, I’m having a new hip installed and won’t escape the medical establishment until Friday 7th. I’ve been warned that I’m likely to be on a ‘healthy’ cocktail of painkillers for at least several days. I sincerely hope to be able to attend SIHFT from rounds 6 onward, even if only in an admin capacity, until I’m recovered enough to get back to full/normal shooting.
The above has happened very much quicker than I expected; initial expectations would have put the operation 6 to 9 months away, in the late Autumn or early winter months. Hey, ho.
Between now and SIHFT Round 5 there is an HFT Summer Open comp at Mile Oak next Sunday (2nd July) and, on the same day, Round 3 of the BARC @ Throckmorton. As I type this, I can see nowt else in the diary going on locally.
Feel free to alert SIHFT readers if you know different.
