Tintype image with William Stein rifle
Hi - my first post to this very informative and interesting forum.
I have this antique tintype image of a man holding his William Stein rifle next to a target that he seems to be proud of. Seeing where the strikes are is difficult, but they must be good. My question is whether the man might be William himself. I have explored Ancestry and everywhere else that I can think of to find a picture of him, but have not been successful.
Does anyone here know what he looked like?
I appreciate the consideration.

Is that a bugelspanner? Interesting.
I don’t know what he looked like but that’s a great picture.
Quite a big target. Does the picture say anything on the back?
Thanks for sharing,
Matt

I am not an expert on air guns. From the internet, it appears that at least some of the William Stein rifles were bugelspanners.
Nothing on the back or written inside of the case and the source from which it came was no help.

Have you also asked on the American Vintage Airgun forum?
