Simply stunning. A joy to look at, I don't think this can be bettered.

Maybe without the gold filigree?
Although I fully appreciate the skill and effort that has gone into this, I too am not a fan of engraving. The two finishes I prefer are mint or a dull patina with no actual finish remaining. Collectors, particularly firearm collectors will often pay a higher price commensurate with the amount of finish remaining, but I just think this partial finish looks a bit scruffy. I would have absolutely no problem with a gun in really poor condition being brought back to its former glory, but probably without the engraving.

I’m afraid I detest engraving and this is not an exception. I can admire the skill, of course, and to each his own, but it’s not for me
Refinishing a wreck on the other hand, unless it is one of only a few remaining examples, seems perfectly ok to me (provided of course there is no attempt to pass the finish off as original)
Morally flawed
What type of leather is this?
