    Thumbs up Re-Parallaxing

I have just bought a Hawk Night eye illuminated dot scope 2.5 –10 X 50. It does everything I need to do but it doesn’t have any parallax adjustment. This means that it comes out of focus quite a bit. I was just wondering if any one knew.

    1) what the factory sets the parallax on these scopes.
    2) Can the parallax be adjusted say to 35 yards
    3) If so, how do you do it.

Cheers mate, I think'll I'll have to take it down the club though and let someone with a bit of experience do it instead.

It's easier to do than you think... Follow the instructions and you'll be fine...

It's actually very simple, I did my first by accident trying to remove a very tight lens cover, the rubber of the cover gripped the lock ring & unscrewed it as I twisted.

At the end of the objective, roughly where the blue arrow is pointing, is a locking ring which needs to be loosened, it may be thread locked & need a bit of heat, a strap wrench is handy but grippy gloves might do it.

Then adjust the lens via the notches of the red arrow, it should be easy to turn once the locking ring is loose, place a target at your required range & focus the scope on to it.

Hold the lens still & re tighten the lock ring, If you want to thread lock it only use a low strength like loctite 222.

Some are permanently bonded, and if so don't try. Scopes like Zeiss.
Some are just stiff or just have a lock glue that will need cracking. Even a bit of gentle heat can get them going. Nothing about it is risk free though.

A scope lens rubber can work, but where I got mine I can't remember.

I use some cut down steel rulers which are strong enough and fit the notches. Pliers and other tools are scary to use as it only takes one jolt to scratch a lens.
Some scopes are very stiff, some a bit too loose.

Frankly, there is all a bit of luck in it. Set it so that at top mag is your "ideal" range. Those scopes I've done, like the odd Tasco or Optima, I've set at 25m.

When you move the lens the zero goes off. Once set leave alone and if anything Locktite Blue so it won't budge unless wanted to.

I done this in the past especially focusing at max at 25 yards where the picture was a blurr. A quick follow up and now a clear sight picture.

All I did on some old Hawke Sport HD xcopes, undo the front lock ring, unscrew the lens, tighten up the lock ring. Seemed simple enough. Nor tried it on other scopes thought.
