For Sale:
An unusual BSA Improved Model D/BSA Standard .177 air rifle, serial number L834, one of the very earliest 'Standard' rifles, this totally original air rifle having features from both the Improved Mod D and the post 1919 BSA Standard, as follows:
All Improved Mod D:
The stock - 13 1/4" straight hand stock with the star chequering. No butt plate, but has the removable plug from the Standard.
The butt stamped with the retailers name - McCRINICK KILMARNOCK
The cylinder stamped with Improved Model D
Side button underlever
BSA Standard features:
The foresight and rearsight
The trigger guard, being the early and expensive cast item
2 hole trigger block
Loading tap
The serial number
The condition is good - smooth brown patina finish, no rust just the blue gone to brown. Very slight hammer marks alongside the underlever pivot screw. One half of one of the trigger guard securing screw holes has broken away. I have only just noticed this whilst looking the rifle over.
The stock good with original finish, various surface indentations, all minor.
Price: £200 for this rare BSA variant.
