    Alls well that ends well although still sounds more faff than it should be, if brand new it might just need to bed in trigger wise.
    Had a look at the safety on my Daisy 880 as it's the closest thing I've got and yes its trigger finger to push through to live so yeah seems like its either backwards or set up as a lefty as while I can reach most safteys with my thumb I have larger hands than most so wouldn't see it as a normal thing.

    I'd consider that correct, so that it takes a deliberate act to take it off, while it can be instantly applied with the trigger finger.
