    Both...there are a few versions of this target with slightly different mechanisms, but most seem to do pretty much the same thing - bell rings and a little metal duck shape pops out the top.

    Edit: although, this is one of the alternative designs I am considering -

    ...hence the upside down cast iron bench end to act as a stand for the flipping target...
