If its the first time you've been to see John, you will be impressed by the workshop (garage), did you get a silver one?,

    Whiscombe

Picked mine up yesterday on a 300 mile round trip but well worth the wait and the journey (grade 3 stock , trigger adjustable to 2oz , silvered interchangeable barrels) - i agree with the comments about the garage. Very genuine man to meet , had a few shots in his garden before the journey home
Only problem was not wanting to leave the car in any service stations unattended on the return trip !!
Amazing machinery and cant believe the lack of recoil when you think of all the mechanics going on inside the rifle
John says he has a backlog of about 20 still to make then no more
Apparently one of the problems is the majority if his sales are to the USA and he is getting increasing probs sorting out shipping
Anyway - - hope to order a scope for it tonight and then ...

    I'm envious...

whiscombe don't pop up very often for sale here in the USA... when they do... it's gone pretty quickly..

is it the same way in UK?

I had the pleasure of shooting with John a few years back. Very nice and unassuming bloke.

I am not a spring gun man and although I believe he uses opposing balanced pistons therefore effectively making it recoiless class, it has never been my cup of tea.

It is however sad to see such an individual craftsmans skills come to an end after the 20 O/S orders and also a shame that so many travel overseas.

The last production whiscombe is going to be a very rare and treasured beast imho.

I fired a JW a few years ago & it was so smooth & accurate. Absolutely beautiful rifle. I've always liked the woodwork & the blueing. I'd love one of my own, hope you enjoy it mate. Put some piccys up!

I've just had a look at his web site. What a lovely looking rifle. A small price to pay for a piece of prescision engineering.
