    Edit.....looking at the previous posts, I must have known about it, just forgotten in recent times with the ravages of time taking effect!

    Hw97 mk1

    Go for one before ser no. 144 as they have the 25mm piston. The 97 Century (500 made in 1999) has the same barrel set up. The MK1 was introduced in 1993!! Mach 1.5

    The early MK1 HW97s also came from the factory fitted with a square section mainspring that most folks mistake for an aftermarket Ox.

    The square section Weihrauch Spring has a light gold coloured coating if you want to tell which you have.

    Thanks for all the great info. I searched all thru google images but couldn't find a similar one....thats why i thought it could be a custom job! the serial number is 1444***. I f I get it at auction I will open it up. It looks like it is in pristine condition and untouched.

    97 mk1

    1446049 - 25mm to 26mm piston. As per T20 HW did use square section springs in HW97 MK2's also. Mach 1.5
