I think we need to see some photo's of this rifle, Like already mentioned above by Ian and myself, the mk3 S had the Deluxe style Beech stock and the mk1/2's had the Walnut stocks, I'm just wondering if you have a mk2 S action in either a standard or Deluxe Beech stock.

Are you sure there's no screw thread on the top of the barrel at the muzzle to fix the front sight, my S carbine has a fixing on the front of the maxigrip rail to fit a Williams style sight, may be yours has been removed but there should be a fixing thread at the muzzle.

My Mk3 S with the beach stock and maxi grip rail does have the metal open sights. I bought it new many moons ago from JSR for £120. A very accurate and powerful airsporter, does well off FTT.

I bought a mk3 S off of my shooting pal many years ago and sold it on not knowing it was a later S, I just thought it was one of the last tap loaders made before BSA brought in the RB2, that had open sights as well.

I wonder how accurate a BSA Airsporter S could be made, if someone threw the entire book of tuning monkey tricks at it?
