    Trigger with an attitude

I have acquired a new AA S510xs (regulated) Carbine in .22cal with walnut stock. This was a longtime 'desired' airgun...but not my first PCP. As others have praised the features and accuracy...I agreed. However, I have a 'gritty' trigger. I mean it is as if the 'take up' was riding along emery paper.
I mentioned to the AA authorized dealer from whom I purchased the airgun my concern. I was told: it will wear-in...over time. What????? No way!
Interested in hearing from other 'owners' opinion on their 'trigger experience'. Since I'm located outside the UK (yes...across the Pond)...I don't have the privilege to contact Air Arms directly with my concern, as you Englishmen do. I'm sure 'someone' at AA would be interested in listening to my concern or at least suggest a 'fix'. Comments and suggestion are welcome.

Thanks for taking the trouble to write this review I've definitely found it useful. I'm looking to buy my first PCP and this rifle is at the top of my list so reading unbiased reviews like this really helps, especially with the extra information regarding pellet choice. Cheers mate

I have one of these on my radar at the moment as I'm returning to the hobby.
s410 or s510....what are the differences and should I save a few quid or spend a bit more ?

I've had many S400,s , 410,s and 510,s over the years and imo the side lever cocking of the 510 is a big improvement over the bolt on a 410

Best of the lot for me ,as I mainly hunt ,is a S510 Ultimate Sporter action dropped into a standard S400 series stock.

I’ve had a 410 for many years and love the thing. Super accurate and holds the air charge for months with no leakage. I agree that the trigger safety is god awful. I ended up taking it off when it started putting itself on at awkward moments. The bolt cocking is ok but having used the 510 side loading that’s the way i’d go if I was buying now.

Excellent reviews from Col and Ade and lots of glowing reports to back these up.

I'm not a PCP aficionado, although I do own a S410 Carbine that I was given three years ago. In that time it's only had very brief sessions just to ensure all is okay. Which it is.

Although not a PCP devotee I have read that much about the Air Arms PCPs from so many sources that, if I were to purchase one, I'm pretty sure it would be an Air Arms and, most possibly, a 500 model giving me the sidelever. Multi-shot capability not required due to me not hunting these days.

My only reservations would be the skinny looking barrel, maybe seemingly not as solid barrel mounting as some and the flimsy look of the figure-of-eight barrel band. But I'm going to guess that these are actually a non-issue, taking into account how many thousands have been sold over the years and the massive following they have amassed?

The triggers are really easy to set up, do a search on here they all use the same unit s400 onwards, probably just needs adjusting, you might find a video on youtube?

    Advice Please

I am looking at the 510 as an option. I shoot left handed but have always used RH based guns, so not looking for a LH action, but obviously the stock needs to suit LH shooting. I like the Hunter green model, but have been told the stock is made of poplar and marks very easily if nocked. Anyone had any experience of this type of stock please?

Agree re the side lever over the bolt for multi shot. In fact for hunting I use a 400 with Rowan multi shot adapter because it's quieter and the rifle can be de-cocked and silently re-cocked in the field.
The trigger safety! Not sure what AA were thinking. Do the latest have that trigger tension spring as an awkward add on? A "floppy" trigger was another useful "the rifle isn't cocked" indicator.
