    You can buy expanding bullets just the same as fmj`s.
    No licence required.
    The exception is some pistol bullets.

    Some ranges still won't let you shoot it though. Check your range's standing orders or owners just in case.

    so i can buy 8mm soft points in 150gns to shoot in my verguiro instead of 190gn fmj? even though i only have it for target use only

    No problem - there is no longer a distinction.
    You wont be asked why you want soft points.
    Plenty of guys using expanding bullets for paper punching at Bisley.
    Some guns shoot better at close range with flat base bullets.
    And most flat base bullets are expanding type!

    Good point, I'll do so.

    I don't want to get the things shooting well and then have to stop.
