Hi there,
After a bit of advice, I've been working between a few perms that are situated all in roughly the same place. Everything has been relatively quiet but in the last 3 weeks I've been stopped twice by cars that are using the back roads. They're usually want to know what's in the bag and where I've been, so I make a effort to be as vague as possible. However I recently was stopped by some traveller who was keen to get a look at my gun and try buy it from me. Took me a good 30 min's to get away from him and I then see him again parked outside one of my perms with a couple lads now in the car with him so I make a quick exit.
Should I be calling the police or maybe move on for a bit? I could just be paranoid but when your carrying £400 worth of equipment on you I don't really want to be taking chances...

How are they stopping you?
Are you on foot or in a vehicle?
Simple way to avoid confrontation, "sorry lads, can't stop, I'm on my way to meet the wildlife officer at the farm up the road, have nice evening"
Do nothing, achieve nothing
+1 on this, other than the "could be nothing".
The way you have described suggests at least being "cased" for either opportunist theft from whatever vehicle you might be using while you are on the permission, or potentially worse.
Def get the local constabulary informed, preferably with some visible presence.
First couple times they were on foot and just randomly asked, this recent guy caught me as I was walking down a one way road. He passed me then stopped a little ahead with his motor parked at an angle so there was barely any clearance either side with his drivers side window down. I don't usually see any cars on that particular road so caught me a bit off guard. He was fairly keen on getting a look at the gun. Wasn't till a another car turned up that he moved on. Then seeing him an hour later parked up, sorta gave me a bad gut feeling.
I'll get it reported to my local police officer that I get my log number from, think I'll take a small break and also let the farmer know. Thanks guys
Gypsy's stopped my friend while he was walking his greyhound.
Pestering him to sell them his dog.
He politely refused!
2 days later his back door was kicked in and the dog stolen!!
Luckily months later the dog chewed through his rope and returned home!!

Just tell them to off, you are both alone in the sticks, usual rules don't apply - works for me...
