Thanks for the tips and advice so far chaps. I totally agree it doesn't matter what you are aiming at / actually hitting so long as it sa small group that gets smaller (hopefully!). But it's not that motivating compared to aiming at a target and hitting it .
Whilst I like the idea of a foresight raiser, it might be as easy to look for another rear sight.
Shame about Zooma! That would have been perfect.
I'm sure one will pop up.
    Enjoy the sunny weekend all

A foresight riser is not possible for a Model 75 as it has a one piece cast foresight assembly/housing that fits around the barrel, but the '75 HV came with a higher optional front casting as well as the standard height type. Both came with every new rifle.

Your only "good" option for "dual distance" shooting is a spare rear dioptre, but it does not have to be from a Model 76 as the other Original dioptre sights will fit and work just as well and there are a lot more of them about so you should have more chance of finding one.

I may even have one - I will take a look and let you know if I can find it.

Zooma that would be great. I've checked the "Auction" site and there is a 75 set but it's missing the clamp wheel and bar. Fingers crossed you find something

    Bingo!

It turns out that I still have my spare HW75 rear sight assembly!

It is the Model 75 type, complete, and ready to mount on your rifle.

When I used them both I put a very small spot of the wife's nail varnish on one of them so I could easily identify the one that was set at 6 yards from the one that was set at 10 meters.

This one has the small (very small) nail varnish spot on it, and although the nail varnish may not be to your colour choice, it is a good idea and can be easily wiped off if not required - or if you prefer a different colour shade

I will take a picture of it and send it to you later today
