As you know i am a pillock when it comes to remembering names, there was Phil, Tony and two others, Richard the Newbie and the other guy that was sat a couple of places to our right, sorry mate I can't for the life of me remember your name. Then there was a visitor who Tony and Mick were talking to, Paul was his first name, again can't remember his surname, but he is a guru on airguns apparently, writes about them in one of the magazines, a very nice bloke, he had a go and we thought he had fixed it but on the second attempt at shooting the gun it failed again.
The problem is that when you depress the safety to shoot the gun the safety goes in ok but when you depress it and wont allow the gun to be fired. You have to touch the safety again holding it in slightly then and it works.

Im going to get a proper spring, but before I my son Paul is going to have a look to see if the my 97 spring works in it.

    Cheers

That jolly fine chap we were talking with was none other than Neil Price, Mel. Now retired gunsmith but he still writes the technical strip-down and fettling guides for Airgunner Magazine.

That safety spring shown on the Chambers site will be incorrect methinks, John, with Mel's gun having the "single sided" safety. I wonder if Protek may have one? Or, as the chaps were saying, if you could source another little spring (I think the chaps were saying that there was a little recess for the spring to fit in?).

Would a new/replacement trigger unit solve the problem ?

Don't know without having a proper play, John.
I'd say spring first. Then, if that didn't work, maybe borrow a trigger unit from another gun and see if that helps.

Of course, Mel could always just omit the safety catch anyway and job done, but I think he prefers it back to how it should be?

How awesome is Mick? -- He only arranged an Avro Lancaster fly-past for us on the Sunday!

And no, it wasn't on it's way to or from an air show, I checked.

Yes, it certainly was a most splendid surprise, Phil.

Must admit I did feel a bit hesitant about pointing my rifle at it so as to get a better look at it through the scope!

    Awesome it was, awesome!

    How's the back doing, Phil?

    Not so bad, thanks Tone.

Those motogp commentators we were talking about - of course you were right about the long-standing Toby Moody, with Julian Ryder, on Eurosport. I got it wrong, sorry. Don't know what I was thinking...

The 'less than able' commentator I was thinking of (who only had the motogp job for a few races in 2009), was Carlton Kirby. He's the one who does the cycling tours, and the Le Mans cars... Carlton 'keep it sensible' Kirby...

Yep, Kirby's commentary was sleep-inducing and very poor indeed young Phil.

But I did used to love the jolly banter of the intrepid duo of Toby and Julian.

I do hope your back IS a little better matey and that you're not telling little porkies.

That Avro Lancaster was actually a B25 bomber but thanks for arranging it Mick.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level & then beat you with experience.

Er Guys.... if Papa's correct on this and I've no reason to doubt him, why did the Quigley Collective mistake an American twin engined, mass produced, twin tailed medium bomber from Roy Chadwick's four engined Masterpiece ?

John- Do you recall the small singe engine low winged plane we saw and I commented on?

I felt sure it was a Hurricane with the broad rounded wingtips (Spitfire more pointy wingtips!)

    No problem Papa.

I'm glad that you identified it for us --- I was unsure and thought it was just a big Fokker.
