    Is it wrong...

    ... to want a HW35?

I quite fancy one despite the fact that there are more modern springers out there.

    Ignore the above post.

It's his birthday and he'll be off his head!

HW35 - yes, go get one. They're lovely. An absolute classic design icon which is more than capable of out-performing many modern rifles. Available for sensible money, too.

When Nick sobers up, he'll be extolling their virtues, too!

It's the classic-ness that appeals. But I'd also like and MGB or Sprite but wouldn't want to actually have to drive it on a regular basis!

Thank you! Old cars are great if you have failing eyesight, facial bushyness and a flat cap. If you actually want to go anywhere you wouldn't dream of taking an allegro!

The 35 is the allegro of the airgun world. Ugly, out of proportion and a throwback to grimmer times. It has the same fanbase as the allegro too, with the same rabid, blinkered beardiness prevelent and all the owners have problems with their adenoids.

If you need to get one then get an old one. At least then when someone finds out theres a chance they'll think you are a collector rather than just a prat!

Any why not get the Gunbag for sale at the moment for twenty pounds and no pence in the for sale section, it is 48" long, you will need two of these.

    There's a lot of rifles I don't like, and I won't get them. I like the HW 35, and I got one.

    PS) It's HW 35, not HW35.

    An understandable urge.

My preference would be a late 70's / early 80's one; commonly available in good nick and enjoyable to carry out a service on.

This for their great character and 'retro' appeal. Plus with a leather piston seal, they can shoot very nicely.

I wouldn't want a modern one though; stock is subtly different, barrel shorter, and instruction manual stamped all over end block. They do, however, seem quite well priced, although the breech locking lever is arguably an inferior design.

Forget most of what's been said.

Any other HW, you'd be right in thinking 'I should get an old one because the old ones are better'.

    HW 35 is the exception.

    I say get a new '35 E in .177 cal.

    Oh yeah.

Me? Good God no! If I had one (which I don't), I wouldn't never sell it.

And what's this I hear you've been going about saying the HW 95 is your favorite springer??
