as mentioned to get a stubby really small you need to shorten the valve case and bore the co2 cap out so the 8g cart sits in the cap
to use an 8g you'll also have to take out the co2 face seal out bore the seal opening a fraction and refit the seal-the reason is the 8g co2 tip diameter is a fraction bigger

my mate Patty sells the magnetic triggers or did
I prefer a light spring and guide
many say to use the std sear spring but make it take a set by fully compressing and leaving for a bit then fitting a spent .22 case -this does improve it but it's still poor in reality

TB I did this a few months ago, made a stubby to take 8g carts. Cut and brazed the gas tube as I don't have a lathe. Didn't need to modify the valve. It also takes 8g nitrous oxide capsules (at slightly less power) so it's Dual Fuel
Not a huge loss in power overall.

The rear sight arrived from the states in double-quick time. I must say, I love the looks! I can't wait to give it a go

Nice one. I have a MIM on mine too. Did you shorten the gas tube or just the barrel?

Wow! That's proper Thunderbirds stuff! I reduced the tube by about 11mm and the plug to suit so its the shortest that'll work with 12g. Reducing the frame/handle is next.

Someone of your talents should have no trouble cutting and rethreading the tube (obviously the better route if you have the facilities for it) to take 8g carts. It's not a lot but it does make a big difference to it's perceived size.

I bought a sack of 12g carts from our sponsors and have to use them eventually. Mrs Bum wants use of the cupboard back again!

That is sweet. Wish they made them like that as a factory item.

I hadn't looked in for a while, Nick.

    Lovely.

I've threatened to buy one of these sights for ages now but haven't got round to it. When funds allow I'll get one for sure.

Please, please don't sell this prior to The Bash and bring it along.

Just going back to breeches I have the Crosman steel breech on mine and free float the barrel. There is also a chap who will mill off the rear portion of dovetail on the steel breech so the original rear sight will fit if you want to keep an original look. Have also seen on with this done and the steel breech shortened to look like a stock 2240, if that floats anyone's boat.
