Well, you never know…. I might try it out with open sights, … like how we used to shoot back in the NARPA days with Wobbley Hawks
Ive gone all glassy eyed now Paul - NARPA was responsible for getting me started back around 1970 - good days indeed!

As a matter of interest I have fitted a peep sight to my HW30S (bit like Russ fitted to his) and it works really well at 10 meters - so it should be even better at 6 yards!

I enjoyed the last one I did. Let me know when you decide and I’ll enter whatever class is appropriate for a peep-sighted HW30.

    Thank you

We already have some early entry's for this 2022 MPL Postal Competition, so I have started a list of competitors that can be seen in the thread below the 2022 MPL Jan-June Rules.

If you have entered, please check to make sure that I have added your name to this list - and that I have added it in the correct class!

If you have not entered..anytime now would be a good time to do so There is plenty of time between now and the 1st January when the competition officially starts to get some practice in!

I have also added the payment details to the rules for those that would like to pay their entry fees either by PayPal or by bank transfer.

The new email address for you to send your scores to each month has now also been added. Many thanks to Paul for taking over the scoring now that Russ is so sadly unable to do this for us any longer.

I would also like to thank Russ (PhatMan) for all the hours of his time that he has given so freely to us over the years by posting the MPL scores here on the BBS (and elsewhere too) and for helping to answer some of the many time consuming questions he has been asked and for the help and advice he has given to us all. Thank you Russ your help and support has been very much appreciated.

Thank you also to those that have already paid their entry fees so early - this is very much appreciated as the funds are given directly to the Rossendale Target Club that we are trying to keep open (and who will continue to pay for any costs incurred in running the MPL).

Those of us that work to promote this competition and record your scores do so on a voluntary unpaid basis and make no money whatsoever by donating our time and effort to running the MPL postal competitions for the benefit of the sport.

    Hi Zephyr,

You could enter the 6 yard MPL and/or the 10 meter OPEN rifle competitions.

I have shot my HW30S at both distances and it is surprisingly good at both.

    Stay safe,

    Bob.

Could you tell more about the peep sight and where I might find one Bob?

Thinking back, the first competition gong I won was shooting on NARPA targets using my Original 75.
Ironically the item I won was a silver NSRA spoon in a presentation box that I still have

You can use any type of rear diopter sight Paul - most fit the HW30S - but just check to be sure.

I can send you a picture of mine by email and if you check the BBS thread here about the 30S you can see the pictures Russ posted of his.

I think Russ bought his new from Intershoot, but mine was a used "left handed" Anshultz one that I was given by Robin Carter some years ago, and it works a treat. The only difference with a left handed diopter rear sight is that the adjusting knobs on mounted on the other side of the sight - but that has made no difference to me at all, so I have been very pleased with it.

If you fancy buying a new one (or just taking a look at some of the many different types that are available) take a look on any of the specialist match rifle accessory dealers sites as there are dozens of different types (and prices!) to choose from!

Good used diopter sights can sometimes be found on here or on "eBitz" etc.

    Excellent news gents

The more the merrier as they say, and it will be interesting to see what guns members are using.

I’ve got a choice of pistols to use in the 6yds MPL and will probably end up using my FWB 65.

For the ‘Open’ matches I’ll use my Steyr LP10.

The MPL rules have been displayed many times here on the BBS and can be found easily enough, but I will update them to include the new disciplines very shorty and display then again here - along with a list of received entries once they start to come in.

    Many thanks for your interest

    Thanks Matt,

I will post the rules on here shortly, and they will include the "how to enter" info - which is a relatively simple (like myself) and painless process

    Stay safe,

    Bob.
