    "It's a collector's item, honest!"

Further to my thread about the very expensive and very rough 'Warrior' I saw for sale last week, do any other people have any amusing anecdotes about sellers under vast delusions about the value of an airgun? I want to hear about people whose mate has told them "it's a bit rare, that is!" or "might be worth a lot, that" while they were talking about some practically worthless piece of junk!

Yep, the most knackered Mk5 BSA Meteor, chipped and bashed with a wobbly barrel and a rear sight held on with a woodscrew. No fore sight and most of the paint missing.

I'd have given him £10 and use it for spares but no, he wanted £40 because "It's a rare 'un is that".

Polite smile - turn round - walk away....

A Webley Senior with very little blue left and chipped grips. It'd had a hard life.

He was asking silly money on account of it being a "classic". Got quite offended when I offered him £30. Ho Hum
