Hi Ian, is it a late BSA Merlin? Or an actual Webley prototype that never hit production? (love these -- cheers matey ): Gareth W-B.

Initial thoughts were Merlin but it's not as the underlever extends to the very tip of the forend on the Merlin.
Then looked at the Original Model 50 but it isn't one of those either.
It also isn't that Barnett Spitfire contraption as it was an sidelever based on the Tracker. I have a sneeking suspicion that it's a Webley prototype underlever based on the Tracker/Osprey action and stock.

No, its NOT the Tracker/Osprey or any derivative of a side lever Webley.

Ooh! ... Then how about it being a prototype MkIII Eclipse? Or the original design destine to take over from the Webley MkIII in '74 before the Osprey was finalised ? Any closer ?

I give him the answer and he still doesn't get it! It was a Webley Eclipse with the cocking lever in the stock, like an Airsporter and not, as per normal, under the barrel.

Im already on the search for another example only this time it wont be a Webley.
