    Postage advice for air rifles

Thinking about selling a few of my air rifles to raise some funds but concerned over couriers and postage charges. Don't want to over charge but don't want to be out of pocket either. Advice welcome.

If you separate the stock and action, and bubble wrap them, they'll fit in a box which is short enough to go via Royal Mail.

When I couriered an air rifle for next day delivery a few days ago it cost just under £22 including insurance of up to £500.

Pete, Pay per Drop on 3bay are cheaper, and also very good - I've used them for several items and they do up to 120x60x60cm or 31.5kg for £4.99. But ... both services use DHL for delivery - I've specifically asked, and DHL will not carry air rifles (except for account holding customers, apparently). Unless you have rock solid confirmation from p4d, just hope things don't get lost, or you'll find you're not covered

    Cheers,

Another problem with some of the evilbay advertising couriers is that the insurance is fixed at £100 and you can't increase it.

    Hi Doug

when using the one i mentioned, you can actually select from various carriers, one of which is Parcel Force who DO carry airguns.
all slightly different prices, and there are various insurance levels as well.

The flea bay ones wont carry air bottles either.
I just tried to get a quote at the weekend and listed my item as "empty scuba diving air cylinder and they point blank refused to carry it.

I would beware of usinh Parcel Force.

There was an article in Target Sports recently that said PF had stopped carrying any sort of weapon, without telling any of it's business users.

To add to the confusion they have not updated the web sites for Parcel Force or Royal Mail to reflect this decision.

I would suggest that before you send any aigun by Royal Mail or Parcel Force you telephone their various centrtes to check on just what they will carry.
