I had a chance to look through Ryan's 10x40 at the Shepreth Diabolical at the end of the comp. On the zeroing range there were cards at the usual 8-45 yard intervals. Ryan's TMR reticule was set up for his eye and wasn't razor sharp but it still looked impressive. Quite fine but relatively uncluttered.
The scope appeared to be parallaxed at around 25 yards, this card was in sharp focus, the card at 8 had some roughly 20mm circles on it and these were still quite easy to make out, the 10 and up - very good sight picture - the card at 45 was still completely legible, sharp but not absolutely in focus. The tall dry grass at the edge of the field in the background hundreds of yards away was still quite distinct.
All round the resolution seemed truly excellent, sharp from edege to edge, contrast again excellent and brightness on a gloomy day (this is a 40mm objective) was well above average, but for HFT'ers, the outstanding depth of field was a huge plus point.
Coupled with the resolution, clarity and brightness. the huge DOF means that if you want the very best optic, particularly if your eyesight isn't too hot, then I'm afraid you need to splash the cash on this beauty!
