just take the plunge pad!
once you strip the first one and rebuild it in a fully working state there will be no stopping you!
Hi .
Even though some people call me the Jackal GURU on here
I still not had the 'bottle' to take out the internals of any of them. I can change the trigger mechs & barrels but I havn't taken the rear plug out.
Anyway. My newly aquired .177 Jackal won't cock.
I've only fired about five shots through it. I took it to the club yesterday & it wouldn't cock?
Now I've took it out of it's stock the trigger mech is fine it hasn't got the anti bear trap, however they do function without it.
So what I done is strip another Jackal to compare.
At first I thought that the trigger was loose & not catching the sears
What I've found is the block that the side lever pushes back moves back & forth about 10mm where as the other Jackal doesn't? >PICTURE<
So My question is; is that unit broken & will the internals have to come out & replaced.
I think I already know the answer, just still not got the bottle to take it apart that far
By the way funnily enough I was contacted by a BBs member who seems to have the same problem the other day.
Any help will be appreciated
Paddy.

alternative... send it to me, i'll take it to bits and send you back a 3d jackal jigsaw!
I have a wooden stocked Ar7 carbine, i took it apart with no problems but there is a lot of spring preload, i left the anti beartrap of it, no good for hunting you might as well wear a flashing beacon on your head!
It looks like that is what I'll have to do.
I just can't figure out why the piston block is moving back & forth. I've looked at a few of my Jackals. All components 'seem' in the same way but only this one moves. I've rattled the action to see if the piston is split but it doesn't seem to be.
I'm still baffled?
As for the anti Bear trap they are very noisy a few have had them taken off from there previous owners.
Any more suggestions?

Paddy.

I used the Diagrams you sent Pad, they made things a lot easier. It was getting everything back in was the hard part. But one thing buddy what ever has gone ain't gonna get sorted unless you strip the action. Its spare parts that are the problem now, I'd try and find out what parts gone before you strip it if poss. Otherwise you have a dis assembled weapon and no time slot for re assembly until the part is sourced. COULD LOSE MORE BITS .

I know what you mean about spare parts.
The part that is moving is the piston. I happen to have a spare one of these >PIC< . However I was hoping to keep this one for my other Jackal that is low on power. Just with that one no shop would do it in my area. I even have a spare spring which is for the other Jackal.
I know you're right about having to open it up to have a proper look. Just by looking at the spare part I still can't see how/why it's moving in the cylinder

It looks & sounds to me like the piston head has become detached from the piston tube, if so it should be easy to fix, degrease & silver solder it back.
get your missus to stroke it mate , it works with my jackel every time!!!
My Jackal is now fixed.
I didn't have balls (jax13 ) to do it myself. So a BBs Member offered to do it 'Jonballs'. Thank you. Got it back today, it cocks & shoots very nice.
Also Thank you to Gareth W.B for his help & kind gesture
Two top blokes on this forum.
One day I will take the plunge & have a go at stripping the internals
Kind regards
Paddy.

the long sear pin had been replaced with a rivet but the original is stepped and so the sear wasn`t engaging properly and was moving diagonally in the trigger unit
crap answer but i`m more of a doer than a writer
