    Some Webley pistol photos

Being a Bank Holiday yesterday, I only worked 8 hours or so. This gave me the time to dig out my Webley pistols, something I've been meaning to do for a while now, and spurred on by acquiring another one at the boot sale on Sunday.

Anyway - the 'collection' is nothing special - certainly not up to the standard of those owned by people like Troubledshooter. I just like these old air pistols for what they are!

I apologise for the low quality of the photos - I had to stand on a chair that was balanced on another chair to get them...

    And two more:

In amongst them all are two old castings that were never fully machined. I imagine that they came from the reject pile at Webley...?

Great pistols Paddy, thanks. I hope this is the start of a regular slot in which you post pics of sub-sections of your collection, maybe once a week over the next few years, that is if you can spare the time.

    Pistols

    Hi Paddy,

Thank you for sharing your pictures with us.

What was the silver pistol in your last photo? It looks like an early Premier with a Hurricane or Typhoon barrel.

    Regards

    Robin.

Very well-spotted - 10/10! It's a bit of a strange one that - I bought it off a bloke at a boot sale who insisted it was 50 years old... It is indeed, a Premier with what appears to be an early .177 Hurricane/Typhoon barrel. The trigger has been heavily modified too. It's in a pretty poor state, but fires very well indeed!

I thank you for your kind words Danny! I'm not making any promises about the rest of the collection though...

I just hope no business visitors turn up unannounced - that table runs down the middle of my office!

You sure its not an escaped Premier III pre-production midel (pistol never released). That would be something.

Anyway, what do you mean the collections nothing special its a great assemblage of Webleys!

What's a 'midel' - is it a pre-production 'model'? Seriously though - sadly, I don't know anything more about it. It's either something a 'messer' has created, or, as you say, a factory escapee. Looking at the state of the thing, I suspect it's the former...

    Hi Ollie,

I believe that the Premier 111 would have been based upon the alloy bodied Mk 11, where Paddy's one has the steel body.

But I could be wrong, David C. will know.

    Robin.

Yes you are right there, but I was wondering if this was some sort of 'concept gun'?

Nice. When I look at what some of the people on here have managed to collect, I feel like flogging the few I have and just not bothering.

Great Collection of guns !! Thanks for sharing them with us all.

When you have a 'few' guns in the collection, it takes a suprising amount of time to get them all out and photograph them all. Thanks for taking the time.

When I was a teenager, the first 'proper' gun I ever had was my fathers .177 Webley Mk1 pistol. I pestered and pestered him over about a year and a half before he finally trusted me enough (or sick of the constant pestering from dawn till dusk!!) to let me have it. I must have fired thousands of pellets through it until I knew every last quirk about the gun and its firing characteristics. The old Webleys truely are wonderful guns, the like of which will probably never be made again.

    Great Collection !!
