August scores are 33, 35, 36 and 43.

Not enough practice I think. I certainly seemed to warm up after three targets, the last one was a blinder and it really felt like it was at last coming together. I need to practice a day or two before the next month's comp.

As Roy Castle used to say "dedication's what you need".

Away for a month now and it will probably take a month to get my eye in again when I get back!

Scores as follows:

7,8,8,9,10 = 42
8,8,9,9,10 = 44
6,8,8,9,10 = 41
7,8,9,9,9 = 42

For a not so grand total of 169.

Very kind of you, young Jim, but I do kick myself when I 'throw' 6s & 7s.

While the scores may end up the same, I hate 'seeing' holes appearing during a 5 shot string, indicating a 7 or worse.

Only solution is to make some time for practice - which I've not been doing.

Hi all
returned from the World FT Championships late last night. Had a great time over in Ireland. Went with the goal of not coming last and although have not seen the scores yet, I believe myself to be somewhere midfield with my lad faring a bit better. Made some really silly mistakes, one particular one I did each of the three days when not resetting my top dial each time! Scope played up on last day and was taking 55 yarders at a dialing in for 60 yards plus, lost at least 8 points before realising the scope was throwing a wobble!
Oh well. But all in a great time. ( apart from the Redheaded Russian girl, who I booed at the presentation, she came second in the ladies class but she did not applaud a single winner at the presentation so I gave her no respect back. Can't stand that sort of arrogance I am afraid and I make no bones about it)

Anyways back to normal.

All scores now updated, plenty of 40+'s in there. Well done.
Jim, have added a point to your total for August, I think your calculator is playing up.

Sitting here at home and wishing that the weather was not so grotty; wetness and a risk of thunderstorms on a shooting day always brings moments of gloom (well, for heaven sake - it's 8 o'clock in the morning and I've got the lights on in the house!).

HOWEVER, very aware that we (UK) looking good compared with your forecast

BBC TV news yesterday evening showed people moving away from the Gulf coast, but it would not surprise me to find you're still at home.

Wherever you are I hope that Gustav chooses a route avoiding you and yours - and your neighbours.

Well, Biggles, you've assessed my character correctly (assessed me for the character I am! I'd have stayed at home in New Orleans. Fortunately my wife had more sense, so we've headed 400 miles north to the Memphis area.

I'm not sure how safe we'll be, even this far away. This Gustav looks to be a monster! And then there's Hannah...

Yes, I'm using my wife's laptop but am logged in on my own account now so we'll have to see whether this comes out as Jan or Jim!

I packed my Beeman P3, Umarex Smith, pellets, CO2 cartridges, targets, and new target holder.
