it would appear that some folk have been badmouthing these awsome pieces of germanic engineering- i fart in their general direction!!!!

the big ol' 52 is everything you could want in an air rifle (apart from lugging all that weight over hill and dale )

here's mine, it was nice and cheap but is in fantastic condition (thanks Jez )

    Gorgeous!!

    Sexy!!!

    Elegant!!!

Come on then (i think i'll be talking to myself as everyone seems to be out boozing ) lets see them lovely 52's

My new 'old' Diana 52 Firebird .22 on a frosty morning...

This one has the medallion under the grip and a dark, well figured beech stock. The previous owner had only fired off about 1,500 pellets & hadn't done any DIY tuning , the stock bolts are pristine.
I've just put a correct period Leupold M8 4x32 on top, it has a great sight picture & long eye relief.

    Original 52

I have an "Original" version 52 from 1988 and I like it inspite of what others may say about weight, cocking action ,etc. I have a soft spot for Original/Diana products from a 35B and 50E of the 1950`s through to a 46 Stutzen recently bought off here and taking in a 65, 45, and 300-R to mention a few. I often wonder whether or not those who disparage them have taken the trouble to discover that with a little experience they shoot very well indeed. John

"... with a little experience they shoot very well indeed. John..."

Very little experience in my case, John

Within the first 8 shots I'd had a very satisfying 'thwack' on a 60 yard fence post with the open sights!

Judging by mine they have a polite, straight line recoil & the trigger is much better than I expected from a 20 yr old gun. The cocking arm & linkage seems solid (not rattly) &, if you depress the ABT button on cocking, almost totally silent to load.

    Ian

i turned one down at a carboot sale some years ago, it had a broken cocking link (probably readily available from Chambers), the bloke wanted £15 for it...
i had only just started going round what was a massive, high summer bootsale and didn't relish the thought of carrying it round the bootsale for three or four hours and the car was miles away

now, i wish i hadn't wimped out on it

Oh well, live & learn, johnbaz ... (but ouch!!!)

Mine was the same price as 'Old Jud's gun & I'm very, very happy with that!
It has 20 years of very light use so is effectively just run-in .

I've lots of PCPs but this fulfils my Springer yearnings.

Go on then... I'll add to the photobank

This is my trusty 48/52 in .22 dated for 1991. A great hefty beast of a rifle that I personally love to bits. The sheer size and weight absorbs virtually all the recoil so its frequently been mistaken for an Airking when I've taken it out.

    I have no iead Ian

As far as i know it's a standard stock, what would a BR stock look like??

I did a swap, my King Ratcatcher for the 50 as it was miles too big for the young lad that was using it (in a remote part of the highlands), with the king rattie, he brings rabbits home for the pot regularly
When the 50 arrived at mine, the package was soaking wet, christ only knows what the post office did with it

I think thats the standard stock on the 50, I've got a near matched pair; .177 and .22 both dated for 1978, and both have pale(ish) stocks with darker staining to the nice deep cut chequering on the pistol grip. They stand out even more with an oiled finish. My .22 had a really icky varnish on it that had started to craze so I sanded it back, sealed and oiled it. Was going quite well until I put it in one of those fleece lined gunslips and it emerged looking somewhat fluffy...
