    Wilkinson marked airguns?

Jumping off from the very interesting thread started by John relating to BSA's with retailers marks. I wanted to ask all the members if anyone has or has ever seen 'any' air gun (pistol/rifle) with the retailers mark of Wilkinson Pall Mall London?

As some of you may guess from my user name and website I'm passional about all things Wilkinson. I have discussed this topic with my friend Robert Wilkinson-Latham and Robert does know that Wilkinson did sell air guns out of their Pall Mall showroom at the turn of the century/early 20th etc but did not know if these were marked with their retailers mark.

Wilkinson sold just about everything for the officer/gentleman and had a long history with Webley. I also have noted over the years all sorts of items with their retailers details on. But would love to find/own an airgun with such a mark. So if anyone has one or has ever seen one I would love to hear from you.

    Very best, Roy.

    Named Webley

    Hi there,
a little off your track but I've owned in the past, a Webley air pistol engraved with the retailers name, 'Pape' of Newcastle who was a well known north east gun maker and retailer. It shows that it was done by others as well.

    Named BSA Standard

On the W. R. Pape Newcastle theme I have a BSA Standard air rifle with his name on it.

    Hi Chap's,

Very interesting and thanks for those bits of info. Although not what I was looking for it makes for some intriguing info. As mentioned Wilkinson had their name on just about everything, so it would not surprise me to find an airgun with their details on. Although I have never heard of such a thing and live in hope of finding one.

    Very best, Roy.

Good luck with your search Roy.

    Hi John,

Appreciate that, many thanks. I know it's a long shot but always worth a try. Of course my dream find would be a super Webley or BSA with a nice Wilkinson mark. Always hopeful, stranger things have happened...

    Very best, Roy.

Hi if you have a look on the "Vintage Bsa Airguns" site - find one of "garvin" posts on here and there will be a link to it, there is a picture of a Wilkinsons stock stamping on a pre 1914 bsa air rifle cheers

    Hi

THis is not a marking on a gun but rather in it!

I bought a Webley Senior that had a piece of paper dated June 27/49..

It also had a name and address on the paper, Darras Road, Pontyland..

    Here

    Cheers, John

    Hi Chaps,

Many thanks. I couldn't find the BSA mentioned thread so I have written to garvin directly and will let you know if I hear back.

Of course half the fun is the search but finding a Wilkinson marked airgun would be wonderful.

    All the best, Roy.

    Hi Chaps,

Got it many thanks to all. I also heard from Garvin (the original poster/owner) unfortunately this rifle was sold as parts, so the stock and all parts are now scattered. However at least I do have proof that Wilkinson did indeed mark their air weapons. Of course the big challenge now it to find one! So if anyone ever happens across 'any' Wilkinson marked air gun pleased drop me a line.

    Very best to all, Roy.

    Hi sbd,

Very much appreciate your kind words my friend. No problem being 'off topic' after all I think the one thing the connects us all is a true appreciation of history. I love all types of vintage/antique arms, of course (and I suspect like many) airguns hold a special place in my heart from my younger years.

I'm really pleased you like the site. I'm very much enjoying the 'off topic/personal projects' section, which includes my Webley MkII rifle and as I have been shooting the old girl this last few days, hope to add more to that page soon.

    Many thanks, Roy.
