I have a chain going from the padlock on the hasp on the box to an i-bolt in the wall.

I know people who have the box in the reloading shed, with a chain going around the legs of a heavy work bench.

The security is more a token gesture to keep kids and idiots out, as its only a wooden box.

I was told that it had to be chained down, but you may find your licencing guy has a different view.

I have just had my license approved, so asked the same quesiton; I was told by my regions police '...you are not obliged to have it chained down, but the we do prefer it. However fire inspectors aren't quite so keen, they would like for thier boys to be able to just through it out of a window, if the need comes up!'

I have to admit I sort of agree with the firemen, trying to find a key in a fire might be a bit of a distraction!
