Colt 1911 Grip safety

All those who use the Umarex 1911 A1 Colt will know the grip safety is HORRIBLE. If it worked smoothly it wouldnt be so bad but when you grip the pistol it feels like a bag of nuts moving out of the way. So the solution is to pin the grip safety, perfect. But alas can anyone explain where you pin it? I had a Colt some while back and I cut off the potrusion that sits in front of the hammer on the grip safety and fixed it to the hammer face, problem solved. I thought I would like to try the pinning method this time, if it doesnt involve a strip down. Where is the best place to pin?
