    Colt walker

Anyone shoot a Colt Walker. I have just bought one and hoping to shoot it tonight at the club but I don't have any load data. I know they are meant to have 60 gr of Black powder but I'll be using Pyrodex P and would like to down load it a bit.

When I can't find a useful pal with a couple of pounds of spare FFFg, I shoot mine with 45gr of Pyrodex P.

Seems about the same as the more usual 50gr of FFFg.

However, you'll need some experimentation to find that elusive 'sweet spot' of load.

Thanks for that. Will the 9" barrel make any difference?

I didn't so thanks. I'll see if anyone at the club has a measure cylinder for black that I can use. Two or three of them have said they will help.

Two x 25gr loads will do it....see where it comes to, and top it up with the flavour of your choice. Many folks shoot their 'little' .44s with a 25gr load of BP. You can only try it out.

Thanks for the help yesterday. In the end we shot black powder through it first, 40 gr and then used that measure to get the right amount of Pyrodex. It shot really well with a big kick and I even managed to hit the target

    Thanks again
