Anyone ever heard of a gumaker by the name of A Malock?

I have just sold two of my guns and bought an antique, single barrel percussion muzzleloader with the proceeds.
It is .410" bore, rifled, and uses a .400" patched ball.

I have tried finding the maker "A.Malock" but I have not had any success.

    Anyone ever heard of him?

    Thanks in advance.

Good evening grahamrob & tacfoley. I think you have solved the mystery.
I had a closer look at the lockplate and I think the name does end with "h" and not "k" as I thought. There is a spot of pitting that shows up with a magnifying glass that makes the end letter look like a "k".

There is reference to the firm you mention on this pdf document. That would date my gun to 1877 or earlier.

Many thanks for your input. It has made my day.

    All the best.

The gun I now have is definitely by A.Maloch,of Stirling. I have done some research and found pictures of other guns made by him and the hammer style is distinctive to his guns, as are the finials underneath the gun,ie. trigger guard and ramrod pipe.
I have yet to find more information about this maker but I am eternally grateful for you pointing me in the right direction. I would have been fruitlessly searching for a gunmaker that does not exist.

    Many thanks.
