Anyway if I'm not mistaken I'm damn sure it was Gareth who got the collectors section up and running, so we all owe him a big thankyou for that as well as guarding it.

I wish you all the luck in your retirement.

You are, Pete. It was Baz, after lobbying from lots of us anoraky types.

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.

Please ignore threats of banning buttons and keep goading, Peter. Then maybe we'll get some peace around here.

Yep, it was Baz, following a barrage of lobbying p-ms etc from the likes of me (in my pre mod days), and Garvin et al.

I knew it was something to do with you as I remember you badgering the crap out of the mods, you seemed to be the one wanting it more than anyone else.

    Why step down?

I have been a mod on an unrelated car forum for the last 8 years.

There have been times when, for reasons like yours, I have had to step back. Fellow mods stepped up and later I was able to contribute again.

Take a holiday and don't let this forum lose your valuable contributions in the future.

    My very best wishes,

    Paul.

Thanks for wanting me to stay, Paul, but I really need the closure, as although I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a mod, I want to return to being an ordinary BBS member and air gun shooter, so I have no shaddow clouding the time I spend with my kids when I see them (the youngest is still only six, the oldest ten), as I'll not get this time again.

The reasons for this decision are all time related, as holding down two jobs while also finding as much time as possible to see my three kids (they live primarily with their Mum / my ex), coupled with me also wanting to actually enjoy using the BBS as a punter, and still squeeze in a bit of recreational shooting, means I can no longer find the time needed to execute my share of the forum’s moderator duties (approx three hours a day) correctly, and so I feel the time is now right for me to stand down.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working for the Air Gun BBS as a forum moderator with the rest of the moderating and admin team (a crackin’ bunch of blokes), and hope that my contributions have been of some value to both the forum itself, and the membership in general (although I know of a few people who will be glad to see me go ) …

I will officially step down at midnight on March 7th, at which point I will relinquish my key to the mods secret lounge bar, hand back my yellow cape and orange over-pants (reckon I’ll miss them, the most ??? ), give back my mod cyber tool box of special buttons, and return to being a regular BBS member.

A definite up-side of resigning, however, is that after the 7th, I will never again have to venture into the Members Only area unless I actually want to, and can’t see that happening any time soon ().

Thank you to the many who have offered and given me their help and support over the past five years, it has all been truly appreciated (copy of this thread also posted in the Non Air Gun section, too, as most who regularly go to NAG, seldom visit Collectors Corner).

    Cheers: Gareth W-B.

Your genteel and gentlemanly approach will be greatly missed Gareth, however you still have your amazing super hero toblarone gun packing skills to fall back on

    All the best

Ditto to everything nice said by others. You are a great bloke Gareth and have been an extraordinarily capable, fair and effective moderator on this site. Nothing more to say really-you can now $od off knowing you have done a good job!
