useability of vintage youthguns?

I'm considering buying a Webley Jaguar or Ranger.
Just for fun vintage competition.
How shootable are these at 6 yrds/10m accuracy wise?( the rifled versions).

Secondly, what kinda bothers me, those rifles were delivered new incl darts..
which, I assume, is bad news for the barrel.
Or were those old barrels suited for darts?(= not harmfull)
I'm referring to the rifled barrels only.

Hope to read some experiences from you with all kinda rifled barreled youthguns (does not need to be specifically webley).

Ive got a bsa cadet and its plenty accurate at that range. . Penny sized groups easily achievable!

Darts certainly won't do a barrel any favours. However, at very short range accuracy should still be acceptable.

I'd be more concerned with the muzzle's crown, "youths" have been known to stick various things in the muzzle, a gnarled crown is capable of causing accuracy issues at any range.

I have a little Milbro Diana 22 which will give 3/4" (<20mm) groups at 10m. These have a brass barrel liner so are particularly susceptible to barrel abuse. HTH

I've heard that the Jaguar also has that same brass lining, as its is said to be a milbro made Diana 22 clone..
I'm aiming at casual cometing in the UBC vintage competition.
Range, 6 yrds, but bull is about 1 cm.

If its a Webley I would go for the Falcon myself, better made and a bit more poke roughly equivilent to the BSA Meteor of the time., enjoy.

Hi I have just refurbished an old cadet Major and my son can do one P groups with it at 6mtrs.

hi,my personal favorite for that use would be the bsa standard L meaning"light or ladies" model,its the junior version of the standard "long tom".a well sorted one of those with the original type spring shoots as sweet as a nut

Could not agree more.
Just picked up a nice one with original dioptre sight "A" series too. Shoots like a dream. Bit expensive though!
