Remember the chequered wooden grips were fitted to 'Export' Webley Mark IIs before Stoeger became involved with distribution. Hoffman were the original importers and sold Mk 11s with the chequered walnut grips before Stoeger. These Hoffman Mk11s can be identified through early serial numbers and no mention of Stoeger on the air cylinders.

It could well have been a Webley Board decision then to fit the grips to export models only, unless a contract was originally agreed with Hoffman and then carried on to Stoeger.
Whatever the reason, it's a pity they weren't available for the UK. market
