Cool Sussex Interclub HFT 2019 - Round 8 results

    Hi All

BIG THANKS to all at Swallows involved in preparing the club for the day, and delivering on the day, including those who turned out solely to help marshal us in the car park at the start of the day and feed and water us in the heat of the day. And a few extras who turned up just to spectate – be good to see you join in the fun at future competitions.

The weather turned out to be pretty much exactly as forecast – very sunny and very hot and with only a breath of breeze. Very different from the other week at Ford, I'm not sure we heard of any doughnuts and it delivered perfect conditions for that perfect score.

In which case it was no surprise to see at least one of those elusive 60s recorded – falling to Mr Christmas himself – Cargy. Congrats GC Was a pleasure to call you to the badge table 3 times this afternoon; for your Gold, for your Platinum and finally for your Clear Round badge – the first and only (so far) of the 2019 SIHFT series. Gauntlet firmly thrown down for our final 2 rounds at Horsham and Buxted. Can anyone else repeat this before the end of the year??

Here’s the full set of today’s results …..

Please let me know a.s.a.p. if you spot anything you think is amiss.

In spite of my in-the-moment error (inviting Kev Hills to collect a Platinum he’d already been awarded), there were 2 Platinums won today. For Graham Cargan and Lol Moore. Sincere apologies to Lol for failing to read my own spreadsheet without a mistake You are due congratulations and, unless you’re gagging to get your hands on it ahead of Round 9, we will call you forward for a round of applause at the start of the next round at Horsham.

Prize drawer winners today were :

    • Paula Nightingale – the £32 cash prize, and
    • Roger Dibbens – the Air Arms goody bag

And the Team scores, both in-round and year-to-date, are:

    Club Round 8 Cumulative Points
    Buxted 281 94
    Meon Valley 244 75
    Oaks 285 81
    Ford 258 66
    Horsham 271 63
    Swallows 260 62
    Iden Fern 249 54
    Maldon 240 49
    Bisley DNA 37

With fewer than the 5 members present, 3 club needed support from the lucky-dip cards to make up a full team. 2 each for Ford and Horsham and 3 for MAD.

Happy shooting wherever you are until SIHFT Round 9 in 4 weeks’ time on 22nd September, when we return to the mixed field and woodland setting at Horsham Hawks.

Between now and then, we have loads going on. A 30 target UKAHFT course at Buxted tomorrow (Bank Hol Monday), the simply amazing Air Arms RN10 memorial HFT event at Northall CPC on Sunday 1st September. This is followed on Sunday 8/9 with the Sussex 50 at Buxted and a round of the Ford HFT Summer Open. And then there's that ‘little’ distraction on the weekend of the 14th and 15th Sept – the Worlds HFT at Weston Park. It would be fantastic to see some of the silver from Weston Park making its way back to Sussex.

Should you be aware of any other events of interest, please let us know.

Thanks to all the Swallows for another spot on day at their wonderful grounds.

Rex and Nigel, thanks for the banter a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Rex, an education, I never knew you needed a sling for that! Nigel, I expect to see you drinking from that mug for the rest of the series.
Additional thanks to all who helped with the winding up and packing away, made it so much quicker.
