I tried pulling it through that recess several times. The cocking link can't be removed.
Now I'm trying to get the damn spring back. Looks like I'll have to superglue it into the hole, to stand any chance of it remaining in place when the unit is reassembled.
I'll give that a try next week, thanks Steve.
I'm now doing my best to get the sear spring to hold in place when closing the unit up. AHHHHHHH!

Well I am happy to say that I got the GEM back together and in fine working order.
I couldn't remove the cocking lever, so I had to work around that. I cleaned all parts, and removed ancient grease and dirt, even finding a flattened lead slug in the mechanism.
I applied a little new gun grease to moving parts and spring, and then used a tiny drop of locktite to keep the sear spring in place, in order to reassemble.
Now shooting perfectly.
