It’s time to get those old beauties out of the cabinet for a well-earned & overdue day out doing what they do best. Redfearn FTC are holding an open shoot on Saturday 9th October which will incorporate some Vintage FT competitions.

It’s 35 years since the BFTA was formed & in 1987 the first shoot rules were published so it is fitting that we use these as a base for this shoot.

30 targets
10-50 yards
2 minutes per lane
40mm kills
Any shooting position allowed
Some targets designated as standing only
Rifle slings can be used as a means of steadying the aim, but no other support for the rile may be used
Seats satisfying current BFTA rules may be used for sitting or to support kneeling shots

The shoot is open to everyone to shoot whatever rifle / scope they please but there will be some specific classes for some vintage battles to take place.

After consulting with a number of old-school FT shooters, all agree the biggest game-changer for the sport was high mag, range finding scopes so for all vintage classes any pre 2000 rifle and scope may be used, with the rules for the individual classes being based around scope specifications & rifle aids that were typical for each particular decade.
